Job Description
This database administrator position will primarily be responsible for supporting SQL Server database systems and some application tier components. The environment is primarily a mix of SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 running on virtualized Windows servers and Oracle 10/11G running on Oracle RAC on an Oracle Enterprise Linux operating system. SQL Server applications supported include Oracle Siebel, JWS APEX, in house developed Power Builder applications and a variety of other third party applications that use a SQL Server back-end.
Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate must also be able to function in a corporate environment working with technical peers, developers, and the company’s business departments.

Required Education, Experience and Skills
5+ years Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience.
B.S. Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field. Additional DBA experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements. A commitment to maintaining proficiency with the latest database technologies is required.
Expert-level knowledge of SQL Server database system (2005, 2008 & 2008/R2) and included tools.
Experience in performance tuning and optimization using native and third-party monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Solid foundational knowledge of SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for SQL Server.
Proficiency in Transact-SQL, writing stored procedures, functions, triggers, etc.
Experience in designing and implementing operational automation tasks across SQL Server environments.
Basic knowledge of Windows Server OS including Active Directory and disk configuration.
Experience in the following is a plus
Experience with Silent Install/SYSREP scripting for SQL Server 2008 R2.
Experience with Quest Lightspeed for SQL Server version 6.x and up.
Experience with Oracle RDBMS.
Experience with UNIX or LINUX.
Experience in the implementation, on-going management and regular reporting of Sarbanes-Oxley regulatory compliance for SQL Server environments.
Other Requirements
Ability to work overtime as needed, including occasional nights and weekends.
Ability to work in a rotational 24/7 on-call environment.
Ability to write and speak English clearly, including the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical people.
Strong listening and customer service skills.
Ability to organize work effectively and meet deadlines.
Ability to perform duties with moderate to minimal supervision.
Some travel is required.
