How to upgrade SQL instance in a cluster
Hi all,

Appreciate iyour ideas on how to cut down the time taken to upgrade SQL instances on clusters:

1) upgrade MSSQL 2005 version running on a majority node set cluster (All active laod balanced). What is the best way to do it (5 nodes x 9 instances active)? Its going to take a long time 5 x 9 instances?

2) On another cluster is with 2 active + 1 hot spare node, does it help to reduce the downtime for 2 active instances if I remove the spare node and add it later when the 2 instance are succesfully upgraded to new version.

3) Specifically, during the spare node adding for installation of SQL instance, does it impact the current running instance on 2 active node that causes downtime? The reboot is required only for the new node not all nodes?

Thanks
S Choo.
